Eating Disorders

Eating disorders are often seen in neurodivergent populations. At Therathrive, our therapists are skilled at both assessment and treatment of eating disorders, with special understanding about the differences in the underlying reasons for disordered eating in these particular populations.

A Warm, Holistic and Strength-based Approach

Our approach is warm, caring and strength-based, in order to help those who struggle with eating disorders increase strength and find peace within themselves.

People struggle with eating disorders for many reasons, some being perfectionistic tendencies, low self-worth, sensitivity to eating, other sensory issues, and so forth. In conjunction with looking into the reasoning behind an eating disorder, we also address what reinforces the diagnosis itself. In addition, we will monitor physical safety around eating and nutritional levels as needed, and will explore underlying beliefs, emotions, connections, and the history that has been impacting health and well-being.

We work with the following eating disorders:

  • Avoidant/Restrictive Food Intake Disorder (ARFID)
  • Anorexia Nervosa
  • Bulimia Nervosa
  • Binge-Eating Disorder

Focus on Balance

While working with those who carry an eating disorder diagnosis, we place effort in balancing both physical health with psychological and emotional health, to promote an increase in functioning at all levels.

Increase Self-Understanding and Healthy Coping Skills

While many clinics primarily focus on physical health, at TheraThrive we also strive to incorporate a genuine and heartfelt relationship, while also focusing on exploring self-image, self-worth, and self-concept.

We will guide you in creating appropriate coping skills for overwhelming emotions, and we will support you as we work to not only improve your self-construct, but also to increase your self-love.

We come from a gentle and compassionate place when working with those struggling with eating disorders, and we empathize and listen to each person’s distinctive story. At TheraThrive we do not judge you, and instead we work to understand you and your life.
